It features a brand new story not related to either the original Fate/stay night Visual Novel or its adaptations taking place in an alternate reality where there are two moons instead of just one. Announced at Anime Expo 2009 on July 4 via Famitsu magazine, it was released on July 22 in Japan exclusively for the PSP. The PSP game Fate/Extra was developed by Type-Moon and Marvelous Entertainment as part of the Fate/stay night franchise commemoration project with Nitroplus known as the Fate Project. Shirou joins forces with another Master, Rin Tohsaka and her Servant Archer, as he strives to obtain the Holy Grail which will grant any wish before it disappears forever.

In the war, Shirou forms a fateful bond with one of his Servants, Saber, who is forced to fight against her own wishes. Fifteen years later, Shirou is thrown into the Fifth Holy Grail War-a military conflict between mages known as Masters who summon Servants, warrior spirits of history and legend, to compete to the death for the omnipotent Holy Grail. The story of Fate/stay night centers around a seventhgrader named Shirou Emiya who loses his parents in a fire and is adopted by Kiritsugu Emiya, a man who claims to be a mage. There are also several spin-off manga series, such as Fate/Zero, Fate/kaleid liner Prisma Illya, and Today’s Menu for Emiya Family. A Fate/stay night movie, Fate/stay night: Unlimited Blade Works, was released in 2010. An anime television series produced by Studio Deen began airing in Japan on January 7, 2006. The manga has been licensed by Tokyopop in North America.

Fate/stay night was adapted into a manga series by Datto Nishiwaki, and serialized in Kadokawa Shoten’s Monthly Ashe. Fate/stay night is a Japanese visual novel developed by Type-Moon and originally released for Windows in 2004.
